WizTom for the Web

WizTom Studio

WizTom Studio is the common environment to manage the whole localization process and comes with WizTom for Windows, WizTom for the Web and WizTom for Java.

Organizations can benefit from using WizTom in several environments, helping them streamline their localization projects and leverage localization investments.

To have an overview of WizTom Studio's features, please read WizTom's Starting Guide. This Starting Guide explains the basic steps to localize a Windows, Web or Java application in just a few minutes!

Add-ons:

 SQL/ODBC Extractor

 SQL/ODBC Duplicator

Appearance

WizTom Studio is displayed as an application bar fitting on the right side of the screen, a bit like Microsoft Office's toolbar. The user can change the width or completely hide the Studio (it will reappear when the mouse comes near the right edge of the screen).

There are 5 areas in WizTom Studio's user interface. The first area is a toolbar allowing the user to change display parameters and the default settings. The second area is the project panel where existing projects, running processes and available Web sites are displayed for quick access. The 3 remaining areas provide the tools used to manage the localization process.

Quick Localization Process

WizTom Studio makes localizing an application or Web site quick, simple and effective. With just five simple steps, it is possible to start localizing an application in a matter of minutes depending on its size:

 create the project,

 choose the languages,

capture texts from the original application,

 translate them,

 deploy.

When using the quick localization process, there is no need to have access to the source code because WizTom products provide a "capture mode" that allows capturing all unstranslated texts and automatically display them in the Translation Editor for translation.

Localization Process Using All Features

Depending on the size of the target application, the capture mode may not be the easy road. If you have access to the source code, it is possible to take advantage of WizTom's advanced tools and automate most of the localization process.

There are mainly three phases to this process, the first and last being mostly automated while the second phase (actual translation) is carried out by professional translators or in-house resources:

 create the project,

 extract texts from source code,

translate known texts thanks to custom dictionaries,

export those remaining texts that must be translated,

send new texts to translators by e-mail,

translate new texts, using WizTom Translation Pad or third-party tools,

 send translations back by e-mail,

integrate new translations into custom dictionaries for later reuse,

 deploy updated translations.

In this scenario, texts to translate are retrieved from the source code, e-mails are used to communicate with the translators, and all translations are stored for later reuse.

Once the localization cycle is complete, the project enters maintenance mode; maintenance mode for the project's Multilingual Database means the cycle is restarted from the "extraction" step, ensuring translations are kept up-to-date with the latest application's release.

WizTom Studio comes with a workflow module that helps the project manager set up the process correctly and efficiently.
