WizTom for the Web - Capturing Texts

After the project's languages have been defined, it is now possible to start building the Multilingual Database. Before translations can be added, original texts must be extracted from the Web site.

To view the texts contained in the Multilingual Database, click on the Translation Editor button to show the Translation Editor window. At present, the Translation Editor should be empty, as no texts have been captured or extracted yet.

Capturing Texts From the Web Site

Capturing the texts of the Web site consists in gathering texts in the Multilingual Database while browsing the Web site.

To have capture work, pages must be downloaded via WizTom Web Proxy Server and the capture must be enabled in the Translation Editor (by default, it is enabled so you should not need to click on the Capture icon).

To view the Web site through WizTom Web Proxy Server, click on the Switch to Proxy icon in the Web Translator: WizTom Studio automatically changes the address of the Web site and now connects to WizTom Web Proxy Server on the local computer.

When connected to WizTom Web Proxy Server, WizTom Studio captures texts into the Multilingual Database. Also, a language banner is integrated into the original Web page and a language combo-box appears in the Web Translator as seen above.

The Translation Editor may then be used to enter translations in the Multilingual Database.

While the capture mode is the easiest way of building the Multilingual Database, it is not feasible for a real-life project: there are two many windows, dialog boxes and context-dependant messages to capture. For real-life projects, the Extractor tool should be used.
