WizTom for the Web - Reviewing the Translated Web Site

After the project's translation is complete, it is important to check and make sure the translated Web site meets your expectations. Issues that need to be checked are:

 accuracy of translations;

 layout of the translated pages;

 translation of images containing texts.

While the first point will require going back to the translator to fix translations, the second and third points can be fixed with WizTom Studio (provided translated versions of images are available).

 Translating Images with Text

Although embedding texts in images makes it less easy to localize a Web site, whatever the localization tool or localization process, sometimes, there is just no other option.

Luckily, WizTom for the Web is able to replace images at the HTTP level: when WizTom Web Proxy Server receives a client request for an image, and there is a translation for that file (or, put more accurately, a mapping), WizTom Web Proxy Server will send the mapped file instead of sending the original file.

For instance, WizArt's homepage includes a "Make localization a breeze" image as the title.

Assuming a translated image is available on your computer, you can use this file as a translation. The first step is to find the name of the original image; you may for instance right click over the picture, select the Properties item in the popup menu and check the Address (URL) property.

Look up the image's address in the Multilingual Database and type in the path to the translated local image. The path should begin with a '/' and be relative to the project's directory (here C:\WIZDATA\www.wizart.com). For instance if the translated image is located in C:\WIZDATA\www.wizart.com\fr\images\ and is named localisez_c_est_un_jeu_d_enfant.gif, then the correct file mapping is "/fr/images/localisez_c_est_un_jeu_d_enfant.gif".

Finally, refresh the translated page. The translated image is displayed in place of the original one.
