WizTom for Windows
- Capturing Texts
|
|
|
|
After the project's languages have been
defined, it is now possible to start building
the Multilingual Database. Before translations
can be added, original texts must be extracted
from the application.
|
|
To view the texts contained in the Multilingual
Database, click on the Translation Editor
button to show the Translation Editor window.
At present, the Translation Editor should
be empty, as no texts have been captured
or extracted yet.
Click on
the thumbnail below to see a picture
of the screen right after the creation
of the project. Your screen should be similar
to it.

Capturing
Texts From the Application |
 |
|
|
Capturing the texts of an application consists in gathering
texts in the Multilingual Database while using the application.
To have capture work, a language other than
the original language must have been selected
with the Objects Translation Tool, and the capture
must be enabled in the Translation Editor (by
default, it is enabled so you should not need
to click on the Capture icon).
|
 |
|
 |
|
As texts are captured in the Multilingual Database,
WizTom Studio tries to translate them using its standard
dictionary. This results in most common terms, menu
items and button labels such as "Find", "OK",
"Cancel", etc., being translated automatically!
Translations may be added and edited in the Translation
Editor too: simply double click on the translation's
cell.
|
 |
|
WizTom Studio also updates the target application to
reflect the impact of the translations. This is interesting
when translations are longer than original texts: some
buttons, labels, etc., might have to be resized, as
discussed later in this document.
While the capture mode is the easiest way of
building the Multilingual Database, it is not
feasible for a real-life project: there are two
many windows, dialog boxes and context-dependant
messages to capture. For real-life projects, the
Extractor tool should be used.
